Counting your blessings – in accurate quotes

With Thanksgiving coming up, I know many of us are thinking about our blessings in a new light. Family, health, and safety are at the top of my list.

Also on my list this November is thinking about the families we make elsewhere – at work, in our communities, and even with our customers. While we’re all thinking about what uncertainties 2021 may hold, one thing we know will always be true: protecting and strengthening our relationships and networks is key.

Ok, so what does this have to do with accurate quotes? Glad you asked.

Whether it’s a new customer, a longtime customer, a customer you want to win back, or a customer that just needs to go through the motions, a quote is like a greeting card. When done well, it:

  • Reflects what you know about the individual and their business
  • Shows excitement to work together
  • Provides a sense of relief or cheer because you are telling them how you can fix an ongoing problem or challenge with your products or services

Maybe this feels like a lot of weight to give a quote, but I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to pay attention to the care you put into producing a nicely formatted, easy to understand, compelling, and by all means accurate quote that conveys your care to your customer.

Our quoting tool, iQ Configure, Price Quote, is built to take the guesswork and manual labor out of quoting so that you can get an accurate, visually appealing quote to your customers that compels their action. If you’re still quoting in spreadsheets, email back-and-forth with colleagues, and constantly digging into your email archives to remind yourself what you discounted before, it’s time for an upgrade to a tool that makes quoting fast and painless.

To bring you another analogy in this blog post, the quote is the turkey at your Thanksgiving table. It’s the centerpiece and the mainstay, but it’s complemented by your side dishes (a simple but thoughtful email accompanying the quote, a promise to follow up soon, good wishes for the days ahead, etc.) and of course the pie (the touch of sweetness and sincerity that makes it all come together). Getting that turkey to come out perfectly is essential – and lets you take the time to focus on all the special touches you’ll send along with it.

It’s never been a better time to consider how you interface and interact with your customers – clear, clean, accurate quoting is a great way to start.
