Fall… it’s such a great time of year. The crisp, cool weather after a hot summer, beautiful color changing leaves, and everything and anything pumpkin (who loves their pumpkin spice lattes?). With Thanksgiving right around the corner, fall also brings a time to reflect on all the things for which we are thankful. Family, friends, health… they’re all common starters to our “Thankful For” list. While it’s not very often we sit down for a nice, warm Thanksgiving meal and hear Uncle Bob say he’s thankful for his ERP system (and maybe that’s for the rest of the family’s best interest), but today I’m going to share some of the reasons why I’m thankful for NetSuite.
Data, Data, and more Data
I feel spoiled by NetSuite’s ability to extract data. Coming from other systems where reporting can be difficult, or I’d have to know how to tap into the database to get what I needed, with NetSuite it feels like I have access to so many data fields right at the tip of my fingers using saved searches. I can easily and quickly build a saved search to pull almost any kind of information I’d want and then export it and play with it in Excel to my heart’s content. It gives me a sense of freedom and independence.
I love workflows. They can be as simple or as complex as you want to make them. One of my favorite things to use a workflow for is to set a default field value. It’s something so basic. Just one state and (usually) one action, but boy does it rate high on my personal efficiency scale.
Touch of Style
I enjoy the splash of color we can add to the NetSuite interface. For myself, I tend to appreciate the usefulness it provides. I can color-code roles so I don’t mix them up when I’m switching around. More than that, though, it’s fun to see the colors other people choose. I feel like it gives me a glimpse into their personality and it’s an easy way to learn something new about someone else.
So next time you’re at your annual Friendsgiving and it’s time to share your thanks, maybe surprise them with a NetSuite answer…or maybe just save it for the office potluck. But if you’re not quite sure why you’re thankful for your ERP system, contact us. We’d love to help you fall in love with NetSuite.
